About The Legacy Honor Awards: This year, Seattle Rep is proud to honor Bill Irwin-legendary actor, vaudevillian clown, playwright, choreographer and so much more-with Seattle Repertory Theatre's Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre. This award honors and recognizes individuals who have played a significant role not only in Seattle Rep's success, but have made major contributions to the American theatre. Seattle Rep audiences have experienced Bill's extraordinary talent in many incarnations, including Largely/New York (1988), The Seattle Experiments: An Evening of Fragments (1994), Scapin (1995) and Fool Moon (1998).

Lifetime Dedication to the Theatre 2008 Honoree: Matthew N. Clapp, Jr. For nearly two decades, Matthew Clapp has been at the heart of what Seattle Rep does. A truly generous, leading supporter and enthusiastic audience member, Clapp has helped Seattle Rep make many of its artistic dreams come true. Through his sustaining and inspirational support, Clapp has long been dedicated to helping Seattle Rep develop and produce new plays for the American stage by both established and emerging writers. To sustain these important programs in perpetuity, Matthew Clapp created the Mary Davis Clapp Fund for New Works in Seattle Rep's Endowment; the support provided by the fund has helped make possible several important world premiere productions.
